US ELECTIONS AND THE CCP'S INFLUENCE (Part 1)

Hello, everyone, welcome to “Inconvenient Truths”. I am your host Jennifer Zeng.

Today I will talk about a very important issue: the US elections and the CCP’s influence. Actually this topic was given to me by an event organizer in Israel. I was invited to speak about this at one of their “Spotlight on China” events. I will discuss this issue from 4 aspects:

  • Did China try to switch the US election results to its own favor?

  • What can other countries learn about Chinese influence?

  • How do American elections influence public opinion inside China?

  • When can we expect a democratic election in China?

Did China try to switch the US election results to its own favor?

Now, let’s go directly to the first point: Did China try to switch the US election results to its own favor?

The answer is a big, fat YES.

We can talk about this issue in three aspects: 1. Facts, 2. Motivations,  3. Manifestation or results

Facts

First, let’s check some of the facts we know so far. Some of them are direct involvements in this highly contested US election, some of them are indirect involvements.

Direct involvement:

According to Trevor Loudon,  New Zealand author, speaker, filmmaker, and Epoch Times contributor, the Chinese Progressive Association working directly with the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco, set up a whole network in the key states of the US, including Texas, Florida, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and, North Carolina, and then worked inside the minority populations to flip the states.

Other Chinese Communist Party-backed groups and organizations, such as the Communist Party USA,  Liberation Road, Freedom Road Socialist Organization, etc, have done massive voter registration drives in the US. They have signed up hundreds of thousands of voters, and they claimed that they had flipped Michigan, Wisconsin, and Arizona.

They recruited 7000 people, and these people made 8 million phone calls.  They knocked on one million doors in Arizona alone.

Indirect but More involvements

Other less direct, but could be more important involvements in this election include:

A) An audio file leaked on Nov. 27 showing a Chinese speaking man ordering a large number of fake ballots from China. These two men negotiated quantity, price, method of transportation and payment, etc. The man who received the order promised that he would create ballots using the image provided by his “customer”.

B) Before this audio file was leaked, on Nov. 4, while watching the live stream on USA Today, some overseas Chinese audience were surprised to see that an envelope from SF express was checked at a poll center, as SF express is a very famous Chinese courier company. People became curious about why SF Express had anything to do with the US election. It was then confirmed by SF Express that the company doesn’t provide services inside the US. So that the envelope could only have been sent from China to the US.

C) Before the US election, both in 2020 and 2019, tens of thousands of fake US driver licenses and documents from China were seized in US cities including New York, Chicago, Cincinnati Port in Ohio, etc. These are only those that were found and seized. How many have already come in without being found and seized? What is the purpose of importing so many fake IDs from China? People have every reason to believe that they could be used in this election to create fake votes, especially when in some places, there were more votes cast than people.

OK, these are some of the facts we know so far.

Motivation: A Matter of Life and Death

We all know that when a court examines a criminal act, it usually looks at three aspects: motivation, acts, and consequences.

If we also adopt this kind of method, we need to step back a little bit from the dazzling phenomena and examine whether the CCP has a motivation to interfere with the US election.

If we check the CCP’s history, it can be roughly divided into three stages:

Stage 1: From its establishment in 1921 till it took power in China in 1949. In this period, the CCP’s main task was to overturn the legitimate Chinese government and establish its own regime. It succeeded.

Stage 2:  From 1949 to 1978, when the CCP adopted the so-called “Reform and Opening-up to the Outside World” policy. In this period of time, the CCP had been mainly launching all sorts of political campaigns to purge what it saw as “bad elements” of the society. Tens of millions died of unnatural deaths, including starvation. In the meantime, its economy was on the very verge of total collapse.

Stage 3: From 1978 to now, after the “Reform and Opening-up” policy was adopted. After ten years of the “Great Cultural Revolution” in China, the Communist ideology had gone bankrupt among ordinary Chinese people. So economic achievement has become the only basis for the CCP’s legitimacy, that’s why it was forced to adopt the so-called  “Reform and Opening-up” policy.

After the CCP opened its door and relaxed a little bit of its control of the economy, foreign investment, companies, technology, etc, all flooded in. In the meantime, especially after the CCP was allowed to join the WTO in 2001, cheap goods from China flooded the world markets. Through dumping other countries’ markets, unethical competition, IP theft, forced technology transfer, exploitation of Chinese workers, irresponsible environmental policies, overuse and abuses of natural resources, etc.,  the CCP’s GDP grew from $218 billion in 1978 to 14,363 billion in 2019, which is about 65 times more, or about 6500% growth.

After becoming the 2nd largest economy in the world, with such huge growth, the CCP was well on its way to overtake the US as the No. 1 economy, until...Donald Trump got in its way.

In 2018, Donald Trump waged a trade war against the CCP and started to talk about “reciprocity”. Not only that, the fundamental China policy, or China strategy also shifted tremendously. “Embracing China” was no longer popular in Washington DC like before, being tough on China became the new political correctness instead, as more and more tough policies or sanctions on the CCP were being rolled out.

In a very short period of time, people started to see that the CCP was the real “paper tiger”. Without the market, technology, and investment from America and other western countries, the CCP’s economical “legacy” could become a burst bubble at any minute.

Maybe the outside world still didn’t realize this that clearly. But the CCP definitely felt it, and was very much frightened. If they couldn’t stop Trump, if Trump’s policies were to be carried out steadily, the CCP would be definitely pushed into a dead end.

So, for the CCP, to ensure that Trump is not re-elected is a matter of life and death.

OK, that’s all for now. I will continue to talk about this very important topic in my next episode.  So please subscribe to my channel, and make sure you are still subscribed.

Thank you, see you next time!
