Criticizing without Knowing or Understanding 小學生的無知批判
This photo was taken, I believe, when I was in the fourth grade of elementary school. I was clearly giving a speech. At the time, the “Criticize Lin Biao, Criticize Confucius, and Counter the Right-Deviationist Reversal of Verdicts” campaign was in full swing. Even though I had no real understanding of who Lin Biao or “Kong Number Two” (Confucius) were, I followed my teachers’ instructions and threw myself into the movement. I copied critical articles from newspapers, modeled my speeches after them, and even wrote some derivative doggerel. This photo was taken as I read one of those critical pieces. I later received a “Criticize Lin, Criticize Confucius, and Counter the Right-Deviationist Reversal of Verdicts” activist award, which hung on the wall at home for years.
這張照片應該是我小學四年級時照的。那時「批林批孔 反擊右傾翻案風」運動正如火如荼地開展。雖然我連林彪、「孔老二」是誰也沒有十分搞清楚，卻在學校老師的帶領下積極地投身於這場運動，從報紙上抄了許多批判文章作發言稿，還寫過幾首象模象樣的打油詩。這張照片就是我上臺念批判稿時照的。為此，我得了一張「批林批孔、反擊右傾翻案風」運動積極分子的獎狀，掛在家裡許多年。
Many years later, when I was already in university, I read the Three-Character Classic for the first time. I exclaimed inwardly: “Heavens! This is so good! And as a child, I had spent all that time criticizing it—how absurd!”
多年以後，當我上大學時第一次讀到《三字經》時，我才在心裡感歎：天哪！原來《三字經》寫得這麼好！我小時候「批林批孔」時卻天天都在批判它！多麼荒謬！
Sadly, that’s still the reality in China today. Only now, elementary school students are criticizing Falun Gong, without ever knowing what Falun Gong really is, or ever reading any Falun Gong books.
可悲的是，多少年過去了，今天的小學生仍然在重複做著同樣的事情，只是批判的對象變成了法輪功。他們也跟我當年不知「孔老二」是誰就參與批判一樣，被學校和老師帶領逼迫著，在無知中批判自己完全不了解的東西。
In the photo, I was wearing a “red scarf” of the Young Pioneers. I managed to remove it with Photoshop, as I now see it as a disgrace to wear. Under the rule of the Chinese Communist Party, 80 million Chinese people died unnatural deaths. I want no connection with such an evil and murderous regime. So, with my clumsy Photoshop skills, I erased the red scarf.
又：照片中的我本來是戴著一條紅領巾的，我把它PS掉了（用很不怎樣的技術）。中共竊國後，造成了八千萬中國人的非正常死亡，我不想跟這樣一個邪惡的殺人黨有任何一點點關係。
