Sketches of the Virgin and the Christ Child 米開朗基羅手稿 「聖母聖嬰」

此素描圖是被保留下來的米開朗基羅早年最具創造力的手稿之一，比下圖展示的「坐在石階邊的聖母」（Madonna of the Stairs）和他其他一些作品在構圖上更具張力。他採用了高超的交叉線法﹝Crosshatching﹞描繪出非常微妙的色調過渡，這點在聖母的面部有脖子處得到了展現。

「坐在石階邊的聖母」（Madonna of the Stairs），又翻作「階梯聖母」、「樓梯上的聖母」，是米開朗基羅16歲左右(1490-1492)最早完成的淺浮雕作品，運用許多象徵手法，例如階梯隱喻聖母作為天堂與人間、神與人的連結。
